"Days Gone By"

I love when John drives. I can get him to stop along the side of the highway and I can jump out and take photos. He even lets me know when it's clear to shoot. I love having a good "assistant."

These old buildings have always caught my eye but I was either driving or the light wasn't right. I finally captured photos I liked. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks for the comments on Ajax's yesterday. As far as why the toothpicks are in the ceiling, I would venture to guess it has had many college students eat in there and once it got started......well kids will be kids. I've never heard anyone tell a story about it. I just know it is very popular for the great food as well as very reasonably priced. Thus, college students love it. It's like going home to "mama's kitchen."

"Alive and Red!"

I do love red and this flower caught my eye even though it wasn't open. I will try to go by and get a shot of it when it's open. Hughes, my youngest grandchild is sick and I'm keeping him. My time today has been watching movies with him all day after we returned from the doctor. He can't go back to school until Wednesday so I guess tomorrow will be much of the same. We had a great time today even though he wasn't feeling well.

Tonight in the park that is behind my house, they are having the "Pepsi Pops" concert. It was supposed to be last Friday night but because of stormy weather they moved it to tonight. The weather is beautiful. Our symphony orchestra plays for several hours and then they set off fireworks. Because of the trees behind my house I can't see the fireworks but have been invited to a neighbor's house to watch them. I hope I can get some good shots. I've got to look up what I should put my settings on to capture them. Maybe I'll have something to post from tonight for tomorrow.
I think I'm taking to many flower photos but I do love them! I'm basing that on the number of comments on the non flower shots.

BTW......the news that I'm excited about I will be able to reveal very soon. It has to do with news for my family!

"What Will I Make?

I had these out on the counter to use for dinner tonight and I realized that I had never seen a green bell pepper change colors like the one on the right. I think I've had it a little too long. When I found it I told John, "Looks like a photo opp to me." The only light was the light from the window over my sink. I used my 60 mm again.

Your continued support of my photos through comments and critiques is overwhelming!

"My Only Butterfly"

A butterfly hanging on a crepe myrtle in my yard. I have always like the colors and in this shot the way the sun was hitting it. Those are azaleas in the background. The azaleas are watermelon color and were my daddy's favorite. If you look closely at the head of the butterfly you can see part of my house and maybe the photographer.

Thanks for your comments on my fish. My koi ponds are a definite place to sit and relax, read a book or just chill. However the way Mississippi summers are there are only a few months where the temp is pleasant enough to stay out there for very long. Oh wait..........if the weather thus far during the year is an indication, who knows what temps we will have. It was almost freezing in May!
Have a great weekend.

"Thanks for Dinner"

I decided to take a few photos of my koi in the upper pond while they were eating. They have been a little hesitant to eat as long as I'm sitting there. They are now beginning to swim toward the side when they see me. I guess they have realized I'm there to feed them dinner. These are new fish I got last summer and they have finally warmed up to me. The green you see in the water is the reflection of the elephant ears that have sprouted out. They will get very large as the summer continues.

I'm glad you enjoyed the frog band. I know you could hear them loud and clear!!!!!!
I feel redundant when I say thanks for the comments and critiques. But being a true southern girl I must always say thank you for any thing done for me. Maybe I need to find another way to express my gratitude. I love this community!
Tomorrow is FRIDAY!

"And the Band Played On"

Interesting band playing at my neighbor's house. She will call when there is something she thinks might be a photo I would like to take. She actually called me down to take photos of her roses which are beautiful and I do have some good shots I will post later.

Your continued comments and critiques are sincerely appreciated.

"Good News Today"

I received some wonderful news today and can't tell yet. I'll share when I can. I picked up Sutton and Hughes after school and I saw these beautiful flowers in their neighborhood. I thought their beauty fit my mood very well.

I'm elated that you liked my photo of "Kelly" Thanks everybody.

"Kelly"

Kelly belongs to my niece and her husband. She is such a cute doggie. She is so protective of my niece and I'm wondering how she will react to the twins when they get here. She's spoiled and loves attention.

I appreciate your viewing my photos even if they are not showing up on the Daily Photo community page. I value your comments.

"Fantasy Camp"

Each year Ole Miss has Fantasy Camp for anyone who wants to come "play" football! It really amazes me who the participants are, old, young or in between. John has participated since it was started a number of years ago. He loves it. They learn all kind of plays from the coaches and then have a "game" at the end. In past years there have been some serious accidents and people hurt. They have tried to calm it down just a little for everyone. No injuries took place this year even though some of my photos show some guys in real strange positions as they went down. It's actually comical to watch these men of all ages out there. This year our family had John #15, Kevin our son #16 as quarterback, and my nephew Tom # 32 on defense, (he's a defensive coach at a high school) on the blue team! Here is John as a running back while Kevin is throwing the ball and Hugh Freeze the Ole Miss head coach is looking on. John and Hugh are great friends. I have to say "old men wanting to play ball in the SEC" makes me laugh! Actually I think there were former players from about 30 years ago participating! You would be amazed if I gave you John's age. He played a great game for a man on SS for several years!

I really appreciate all comments and critiques.

"Needed Sunshine"

It has been raining for 2 days and it is so dreary. I think we have another day or two of it. The temps have also dropped about 40 degrees. I needed some sunshine and this sunflower brightened my day. This flower came up in a pot on my deck. I'm sure it was with a bird's help.

Your comments and critiques are always welcome and appreciated.
Happy Friday!

"Evening Ride"

On the reservoir they wanted to take a late afternoon ride. It was perfect weather for it. However, the weather has changed to rainy and cooler. So much for the April showers and May flowers.......

I appreciate your comments and critiques on yesterday's post of the clematis. When I logged on this morning the caption was missing. Oh well if you commented you know what it said. LOL

Comments and critiques are always welcome.
