"Dots and More Dots!"

I saw this trash can and thought I could use is somehow as a daily. Well it created something that I had not expected. I tried several crops and this one works well. Look at the holes for a couple seconds then at the solid red. What do you see?

Thanks for your comments on my "light painting" yesterday.

"Light Painting"

I had seen a post by Caryn Esplin Photodesign about light painting. I decided to give it a try. This is one of my lamps in a totally dark room. I used a little bright flashlight to move over the lamp with a setting of ISO 100 4.0sec f/4.5. The post said it would take several times to really get it right. I thought this one was a good start. The camera was on the tripod and I was using a remote to take the photo. I moved the flashlight over the lamp after I clicked. I noticed how the left side really reflects the color of the light and then the right side had more of a golden tone. I guess since I was shooting from the left I held the light a little longer on that side. I liked playing with this technique and will give it another try. It was pretty fun. I had to turn on the lights to focus but just randomly set the shutter speed and f-stop.

Thanks for the comments on the sculpture yesterday, Godschild, I didn't see a name or anything on the sculpture. Sorry I was not able to post comments but hopefully will catch up tonight.

"Saturn?"

This is a sculpture in front of the fine arts building on the campus of William Carey University where I shot yesterday's photo. I liked the light better from this side however I don't like the cars in the background. I tried a couple of things but wasn't happy with any so this is as good as I could make it.

Thanks for your comments and critiques, always welcome.

"Winter Flowers"

Today I traveled 100 miles south of home. I was on a university campus listening to students sing. This photo was taken at the entrance on one side of the campus. My thoughts were of the snow a week ago and 70 degree weather today and these flowers blooming. I also liked the contrast of the stone and the red flowers against it. The sun was also creating nice shadows of the flowers.

Well the "bandit" has hit my site. There was a very unkind post on one of my photos. Why don't these people get a life! It's a sad thing that they have to resort to being nasty. Oh well I guess that's all they have to do. Don't you feel sorry for people like this?

I never realized so many of you had the same kind of variety in their choices of music. I love it! Yes those of you who mentioned Danny Marona, you must see if you can get him on Youtube or something. I think you will enjoy him. Thanks for the constructive comments and critiques.

"Love That Music"

Today I was trying to think of something to post for a daily photo. I have been working all day and didn't have anything to post. As I was sitting at my desk working on photos, I grabbed the camera and just started taking shots around the room. This room is our bonus room/office which is upstairs. This is a table that is next to my desk that has the computer for all my photo work. We have other desks and computers for different things. These CDs were up here because I put them in iTunes to put on my iPhone and iPad. John and I don't always like the same music but these are some that we both like. If you haven't heard Danny Marona, he is a fantastic performer. He can sing any style of any artist. He plays the piano as well. Super entertainer. I think he has retired in Vegas now.

After I put the photos on the computer I realized this one included a photo of John and me with John Madden. He did not like to fly so he had a motorcoach built by MCI that was a custom rig. We have purchased over 100 coaches from MCI. That's how he traveled to where he needed to be. This photo was taken at his studio where a lot of his commercials have been filmed. A lot of the time they came to him. At a birthday celebration for him we attended, they got me to sing "Happy Birthday" to him. I sang the traditional way the first time, then I sang it "like Marilyn." We all had a wonderful time. Every time he sees me he calls me his birthday singer and I just love it!

Thanks for your comments on the carpool line!

"Car Pool"

Today I picked Sutton and Hughes from school rather than them riding the bus. I waited in this line for about 25 minutes. There were many cars behind and beside me and before the bell rang and this capture is just a few. In the area where they go to school many of the students are picked up in car pool rather than riding a bus.

I took this shot focused at the side mirror of my car. I didn't want to stick the camera out the window and people wonder what I was doing. LOL Hope you enjoy.
I have been really overwhelmed at the comments and critiques made on my photos since I joined back in posting daily. I hope I can continue.

"On the Table"

This is a setting on a table at our "home away from home" that I call my "Happy Place!" After seeing Godschild's and Art's "tablescapes" this one caught my eye. This is on a table upstairs and the light was from a window. I put the camera on a tripod and started using different setting to capture the natural light. This is the one I liked out of all I took.

"Look at Me"

As I was leaving the Ole Miss and Arkansas basketball game headed to the car, this tree against this sky just screamed at me. I didn't have my good camera so I took a shot with my iPhone. What I immediately saw was the lines and shadows on the tree against the blue sky. It was a beautiful day.

Of all days to not have my 7D with my zoom lens.....Archie and Eli Manning were at the game to cheer the Rebels to victory. They were sitting with head football coach, Hugh Freeze. My iPhone would not zoom in enough to get a good shot. Oh well, since we know them I'm sure another time will come. BTW - Rebels won 76-64. They are 4-0 in the SEC for the first time since 1936-1937 year. Record right now is 15-2. (Sorry Godschild......)

"Hey, This is a NO WAKE ZONE"

On the road today so nothing new, just another duck shot.

Hope you have a great weekend. Snow is all gone and temps in the 50s!
Thanks for comments.

"Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!"

I have been admiring all of your beautiful winter snow scenes and this is quite different. But to us, it's snow and lots of it. I woke up to about 2 inches of snow and by the time I got dressed and started taking photos, it was melting because the temp was above freezing. The snow on the wax myrtles in the top right corner were doubled over with the weight of the snow. They are standing tall now. There is this bright light that has appeared, I think it's called the SUN! We haven't seen in in almost 2 weeks.

Hope you enjoy my back yard in the Mississippi snow!

"Red and More Red"

Every time I look through my kitchen window I see these beautiful red berries on my Nandinas. I see lots of red and didn't realize how many of the berries were gone. I would venture to guess the birds have been having a wonderful meal on them. I do love these plants.

If this weather doesn't make a change I am really going to have to get creative to have a daily photo. No opportunities exist for getting out much.
Thanks for your kind and welcome comments on my photos. Comments and critiques are always welcome. How else can we learn?

"Bubble Magic"

Still lots of rain. This is a bubble in my drive in standing water. Sutton and I spotted the bubbles when we pulled in the driveway. We grabbed the camera and started taking shots in the cold. We liked this one best. We thought the reflection was pretty neat. Hope you agree.

Comments and critiques are welcome and appreciated. Thanks for your comments on my photos.

FYI (Sutton wrote the caption and typed it.)

"Happy Couple"

It has been a very stormy day with a lot of flooding in the area. I don't know when we will get any relief. Therefore, no new photos.

This is my other great-niece and her husband. This is from a photo shoot I did for them for their Christmas cards. As you can see from this post and the one on January 8, I spent most of my time taking photos for family and friends for Christmas cards. Allan is the older of the two. A great story about the day she was born......I had my choirs on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for a competition the day she was born. It was before cell phones so I had to wait until I got to the hotel to know if she had been born. While eating with my large group, I found a pearl in one of the oysters I was eating. I happened to look at the time when I found it. After talking to family that night, I found the pearl at almost the exact time she was born. I saved that pearl and had her a charm made for her 16th birthday. She will always be my pretty pearl.

Comments and critiques are very welcome.

"Fly Away!"

I took this photo on the same day I took the ones of the mallard and the bird on the pole. A little girl came out of a restaurant near by and was excited to see all of the birds on the landing. She started running toward them and they started flying away. I turned quickly and snapped a few shots. It's been another rainy, stormy day. The temp dropped from 75 to about 40 within 30 minutes. Oh how unpredictable Mississippi weather is this time of year. No opportunity to take photos.

Comments and critiques are always welcome and appreciated.
