M - Medals
These are medals won by the Cedar Creek Winery in the Cedar Creek Settlement in downtown Cedarburg, Wisconsin. The structure was built in 1864 and was a working woolen mill until 1969. It was purchased in 1972 and converted to a winery. The winery was famous for its cherry wines and in unique clay bottles. Extremely large casks were used for about ten years. They were replaced with stainless steel tanks and smaller barrels. The Wollersheim family purchased the winery, in 1990, and it became the Cedar Creek Winery. They focused on traditional-style grape wines with a few grape-based fruit wines. The building’s cool limestone underground cellars provide the perfect environment for fermenting and aging wines in oak barrels. The main part of the building is used for shopping, tours and tastings.
